Miguel Gonçalves Mendes Cinema

In 2010, the Luso-Brazilian Film Festival honored Miguel Gonçalves Mendes with a retrospective of his work, which resulted in a publication of a monograph with testimonies of several leading figures in the academic and cultural world. This publication contains texts from consecrated directors, such as José Padilha, Joao Moreira Sales, from writers like Valter Hugo Mãe, Luís Sepúlveda and Gonçalo M. Tavares, the philosopher and former director of the Portuguese Cinematheque Maria João Seixas, the judge Baltasar Garzón, among others, as the former director of the Indie Lisboa Festival, Rui Pereira, which highlights the sensitivity of the director Miguel Gonçalves Mendes, portraying the subjects of his films, creating beautiful documents, entering in the intimacy of people through his work, leading them to open up in front of the camera, in an absolutely free way.
